Objectives

The Naval Architecture course of study at the National University of Quilmes (UNQ) intends to train professionals in the field, who are well qualified to design, plan and build sail or engine powered sports vessels.

In order to achieve this aim, the University provides students with thorough knowledge in various fields of study: Physics, Structural Design, Construction, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics and Applied Computer Sciences, among others.

This integral training allows our graduate students to plan in a rational and safe manner during the production process. Also, graduate students are qualified to smartly manage human resources and materials in the light naval industry.

Program

Our graduate training as naval architect includes the following:
:: One beginner’s level, which grants a Diploma in Science and Technology
:: One higher level, which grants the Naval Architect Degree

In order to receive the Naval Architect Degree, students must earn a minimum of 266 credits, in accordance with this chart:
:: Basic level subjects: 144 credits
:: Specialization level chosen subjects: a minimum of 60 credits
:: Complementary level chosen subjects: a minimum of 20 credits
:: Professional practice: 10 credits
:: Final work: 32 credits

Graduate Students Education

The Naval Architect is trained to develop professionally in the light naval industry and in projects involving sports vessels with cubic number (length, breadth and depth) up to 2000 m3.

The theoretical and practical training provided by UNQ provides our graduate students a rapid insertion in the national and international nautical industry. Also, the lack of graduate professionals in this field in our country widens the working possibilities.
