The Master and Specialization in Tourism Management and Development’s
academic proposal intends to establish a relationship between the course’s
program theoretical and practical contributions, including the creation
of strategies and the implementation of specific tools that allow students
to work in all areas related to tourism development and realization by
means of an effective management of destinations or business enterprises
in local spaces.
The interdisciplinary nature of the training provides a thorough education
in the field to students interested in working in the management and development
of touristic destinations and enterprises, or in doing research and teaching
at universities.
This course of study offers a valuable training for graduate students of
various fields of study who intend to do tourism related activities in
different areas of public life, especially, working as managers, consultants
and advisers, planners or decision makers for public institutions and other
related organizations, or for the private sector, in the development and
management of business enterprises.
Nowadays, trends in this field aim at making tourism an interdisciplinary
business, so as to account for the various challenges arising from the
study of the intermingling of financial, social, political, territorial,
environmental and cultural problems.
Yet, the Master’s curriculum does not intend to cover the whole range
of tourism aspects, nor does it aim at doing it exhaustively. Rather, it
intends to provide graduate students from different courses of study with
basic analytical parameters, which might be helpful at the time of creating
their own integral development projects.
